INTRODUCTION:
The educational System of a country should be based on its true
moral and cultural values for producing not only a successful professional
of their respective fields but also a balanced personality citizen
of that society. Unfortunately, Pakistan’s educational system
has always remained failed in meeting these objectives.
The
class based educational system is creating gaps between rich and
poor, which is also increasing the sense of deprive in achieving
the basic and quality education for them. The mushroom emergence
of educational setups which claimed for providing quality education,
could also not meet these needs due to lack of true sense of education
and limited financial resources. The poor on the other hand is loosing
the hope to achieve quality education but to a big extent is also
neglecting the importance of moral essence, and personality grooming
objectives of education. The Elite class education system is producing
a doctor, engineer, teacher, businessmen, lawyer etc but can also
be seen failed in bringing them near to the true Islamic, moral,
and national cultured citizen having the right spirit of serving
humanity.
The
third very important issue with the current educational system is
to bring up the student with balanced personality skills. The habit
of rote learning could only help in getting good marks but fails
to provide true subject clarification, positive thinking, good communication
skills etc.
HISTORY:
Keeping in mind these basic issues some friends/educationists have
taken few steps in year 2006 for providing education to the deprived
peoples on the above discussed principles. First Summer School Program
was held in a village Narra of District Chakwal in summer vocations.
Narra
is villages of about 25,000 populations, among them 15% are shias
while remaining are Ahle-Sunnat Brothers. The Shia-Sunni Unity of
this area is of its best example for the surrounding peoples. The
village has one higher secondary school for girls and one for boys.
Students are intelligent but the peoples have no good educational
facilities for them. The summer school program was launched for
3 months. A good propagation was made before its start and resultantly
70 students were enrolled. They were given free tuition of Physic,
Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and English. The classes’
timings were 5 pm to 7 pm daily. A number of good fame teachers
have provided their volunteer teaching services in this summer school
program. Weekly tests were conducted that include seerat and ikhlaque
syllabus as well. The attendance percentage was 95% which showed
students interest in the program even after very hot days. A prize
distribution ceremony was arranged at the end of program, which
was attended by Chairman MAWA accompany by other educationist.
This
pilot project’s experience was very good and has boosted MAWA’s
educational team to further refine the idea for its future application
in other needy areas.
In
Year 2007 further work on the plan was carried for its completion
from various aspects.
